We had a great time in Texas stepping our quizzing up a notch. All of the quizzers came away having learned something about themselves and what they need to work on in order to continue to improve. We ended up placing 5th overall as a team of 5-4 for the round robin. Of the four teams we lost to (all were national caliber teams) three of the matches were intense and we were in it up to question 15-17 in each of those matches. The quizzers got their first taste of what it is like to be in a match where we had to get all of the rest of the questions in order to win the match. As Eric so rightly put it to our quizzers “That was an awesome loss. If we’re going to lose, that’s the way to lose.” We were so proud of how everyone hung in there in the face of quizzing adversity.
Kudos Go to:
Meg Pace – placed 10th individually
Caitlin Pace – placed 11th individually
Armando Sapien – placed 15th individually
Melanie Brodsky – faithful substitute who was able to get in on a few questions on the day
Pat Pace – Awesome parent/chaperone/judge
Molly Pace – who we’re pretty sure she was an official (great job keeping score Molly!)
Story and Skye Ferguson – the most rockin’ babysitters of the tournament!
We are excited to see where the rest of the season will take us. The quizzers have renewed excitment and motivation and the sky is the limit for them.
